INCENTIVE:"How miserable it was to imagine he was the last Lynch left here."One of the things Ronan cares about most is family, whether it's family by blood or by choice. His father was killed before the series opens, and it is said that Ronan used to be different when his father was alive. His father's death made him jagged, unapproachable, and generally unlikable. Throughout the series he changes again, becoming closer to the person he used to be with the help of his friends and their magical quest. With his father gone, his mother and brothers remain precious to him (with the possible exception of his older brother Declan, whom Ronan claims to hate, although he still makes sure to attend church with him once a week). His mother, as a dream creature, lives in the magical forest, Cabeswater, and Ronan visits her often with his friends or with his younger brother, Matthew (also a dream creature). In The Raven King, when Cabeswater is attacked by a demon, Ronan's mother is gruesomely killed and Ronan himself is temporarily undone.
If Ronan were approached by the Eudio representatives during this crucial moment, it's likely that he'd make the deal to prevent her death.
FIT:Ronan said, "I'm always straight."By TRK, Ronan has become more comfortable with his sexuality and intimacy than he was in previous books. There's strong contextual evidence for him being gay by accusations made against him in the second book (which he didn't deny) and by his crush on his friend, Adam, who eventually becomes his boyfriend. At the point when his mother dies, Ronan and Adam have kissed but are otherwise only just beginning to navigate their feelings for each other. Aside from that, he seems to have no problem making physical contact, especially with people he likes (like throwing his leg over Adam's lap in the backseat of the car, or putting his arms around Blue to keep her from falling into a magical pool). In order to prevent his mother's death, it's entirely likely that Ronan would be willing to engage in physical intimacy with other people (even people aside from Adam), although he would probably be reluctant to do more than hugging, hand-holding, or casual touching. And probably, occasionally, punching someone in the face.
